Scam E-mail Warning

Alert message sent 15/02/2012 14:51:00
Information sent on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council Trading Standards
We have received information about an e-mail scam, which was targeted at a resident in Nottinghamshire.

The e-mail appeared to have been sent by someone they knew. It had a link to another website that when clicked on led to a site claiming they had won a prize and asked for their password details for their e-mail account. However, it then hacked into their e-mail account and sent a similar e-mail to the one they had originally received to all of their e-mail contacts.

Anyone receiving this, or similar emails, should delete them, not open any links and certainly not provide any personal information. If you have been a victim of this, or any type of fraud then please report it to Action Fraud at http://www.actionfraud.org.uk/ or on 0300 1232040

For more information on how to protect yourself from this type of threat, please visit the GetSafeOnline website.
